Vampiros en La Habana(Vampires in Havana)(Krieg der Vampire4
by Mavelyn (Category: Film & Animation)
¡Vampiros en La Habana! (English title: Vampires in Havana) is a Cuban animated film from the mind of Juan Padrón.
Originally released in 1985, the film was promoted as an adult animation in the US.
The tagline was “Not since Fritz the Cat has there been such a freewheeling sexy cartoon romp!”The film features trumpet performances by the legendary Arturo Sandoval.A sequel to the film was released in 2003 called Más vampiros en La Habana.SINOPSISUn cientÃfico vampiro ha creado una pócima revolucionaria, el Vampisol.
Joseph Amadeus Dracula is a trumpet player who spends his time away from the bandstand dabbling in quasi-terrorist plots to overthrow the Cuban government.
Unbeknownst to him, he is a vampire, and his uncle has been using him as a test subject for a potion that negates the usually fatal effects of sunlight.Meanwhile, a Chicago-based vampire crime syndicate and a vampiric European Union of sorts both have learned of the formula and wish to possess it towards different endsâthe Chicago group to suppress it and thus maintain their monopoly on indoor, artificial beach resorts, and the Europeans to market it as “Vampisol.” When Dracula learns of his true heritage (and his uncle’s wish to give the formula away to vampires everywhere) he becomes the target of a multi-pronged manhunt, leading all parties involved on a wild chase through some of the seediest neighborhoods of Havana.

Mouse HuntThey’ve tried Catzilla, a feline so ferocious it can’t be euthanized. They’ve tried booby traps that Rube Goldberg would marvel at. They’ve even tried Caesar (hilariously played by Christopher Walken), a demented exterminator whose “Squeak Seeker 2000″ mouse-cam will infiltrate even the cleverest rodent’s secret lair. But the Smuntz brothers Ernie (Nathan Lane) and Lars (British comedian Lee Evans) just can’t win against the tenacious mouse that wreaks havoc in the vintage home they’ve inherited from their father. That’s the one-note premise of this chaotic, lavishly produced comedy that starts on a high note and never lets up, eventually leaving the viewer exhausted. The special mouse effects (live-action, animatronic, and computer-generated) are delightful, and the slapstick is frequently ingenious, but the title says it all in a movie that is little more than an elaborate variation of Home Alone. A prime choice for family fun, but it’s really just a live-action cartoon that overstays its welcome. It’s harmless fun if all you’re looking for is a marathon of slapstick gags and pratfalls, and it’s notable as the final film appearance of veteran character actor William Hickey, who died in June of 1997, shortly after filming of Mouse Hunt was completed. –Jeff Shannon

You must watch…………… by Judith C.
This is just a fun, fun movie for the whole family. I’m in my early 60’s, and my 30 year old son told me about this movie. Nathan Lane is one of my favorite actors - his facial expressions are priceless.
Excellent Movie!! by
My grandmother and I saw this movie on TV… of course she would laugh out loud really louldly but I wouldn’t. I loved this movie, because the mouse is trained very well and is very cute. I like how the director made one “Tom and Jerry” scene… for example when the Cat (Katzilla) is waiting for the mouse to pop out of his hole… the little mouse sets up 5 mousetraps, he moves one to the tail of the cat then…. SNAP, its on the cat’s tail, which is like a “Tom and Jerry” scene. The Comedy of the two Idiot brothers makes this a must see, and a pure comedy movie. When I saw this movie yesterday the animation I saw was for the mouse, because I really didn’t think he could jump from a ledge on to a string from a lamp swing to the next ledge and land. So I think to used some animation in that part.

But upon his arrival, Rodney discovers that Big Weld has disappeared, and the slick, shiny Ratchet (Greg Kinnear, As Good As It Gets) is phasing out the spare parts that lumpen robots need to function and replacing them with “upgrades”–expensive and glistening new exoskeletons. Unfortunately, from this suitable beginning, the story degenerates into a series of action sequences that make very little sense, though some are kinetic and fun (though others are only there to serve the inevitable Robots video game). Most kids will enjoy the sheer visual pleasure of the movie, but compared to the narrative richness of Pixar movies like The Incredibles and Toy Story, that pleasure is pretty short-lived. Jennifer Coolidge returns as the voice of Aunt Fanny in a mildly amusing new short, “Aunt Fanny’s Tour of Booty,” which allows her to again be the butt of the joke. Fans of the characters will enjoy both a 17-minute discussion of the robots’ creation as well as profiles of 11 of the bots, including early, almost unrecognizable conceptual sketches and brief interviews with the voice cast. The original short is fairly dull, and of the three deleted scenes, the most finished is an extended version of Rodney’s initial meeting with Tim at the gate. One other is in sketch form only but does preserve another performance by Robin Williams. The kids’ games are pretty good. There’s a dancing robot that will perform eight routines on command or in random order. A memory game has a bit of replay value, and the build-a-bot segment takes some thought and investigation. The Xbox demo is a nifty little diversion that transforms one element (the transport-pod race) of the full-length, single-player Xbox game into a frenetic one- to four-player free-for-all.
In their commentary track, director Chris Wedge and producer-inspiration William Joyce have to remind each other to stop patting themselves on the back, but it is interesting to hear them talk about old games such as Mousetrap that played a part in developing the film. (Wedge’s frequent references to a possible “director’s cut” might not seem like a joke to DVD buyers who have gotten tired of DVD rereleases.) The commentary track by the Blue Sky technical team might be better, offering insights into the characters and the creation of the film without lapsing into too much techie-speak. –David Horiuchi

Kids Movie, Adult Themes by Luis A. Hernandez
Upon first assessment, the movie Robots may seem like just another story about living the American Dream, but it’s so much more than that. The protagonist comes from a dirt poor family, whose father has to work washing dishes to make ends meet. Living off of hand-me-downs, his father has nothing to give him except for supporting him in his dream to one day become a world famous inventor. Coming from such humble beginnings, Joe Robot (Rodney) then goes to the big city, and after much hard work and old fashioned American ingenuity, reaches the top of the food chain and becomes partners with his childhood idol.
In this everyday story are inserted several interesting conflicts of ideas that are very relevant to our modern world. There is the question of the place of corporations and how they are run. The idea of contentment with ourselves as we are vs. having to purchase a perfect body is toyed with. A rejection of Materialism is a strong theme in the film. Finally, there is the eerie parallel to historical events where the extermination of inferiors was used as an excuse for genocide.
As a child, Rodney was raised watching Bigweld, the head of the company that mass produces all the parts and upgrades which all Robots come from, on TV telling him about the value of the individual. But when Rodney grows up and goes to meet this man, he finds a very different person heading the business now in the form of Ratchet. Ratchet is a very different type of CEO. He is not interested in the little man. His only concern is making profit. The leadership style of these two individuals leading the same company represents our own big corporations who have grown so powerful. Ratchet, blind by greed, loses sight of the fact that it’s the little man that allows his business to succeed. The character of Bigweld makes the statement that you can run a business in a moral and honest way, and still make money.
The movie also tries to teach us about inner beauty. I personally felt a pang of disgust when in the film Ratchet unveils his latest batch of upgrades newly available. In a world of mass advertising where you have sex, beautiful models, and teen pop stars like Britney spears in your face all the time, it’s easier to become unhappy with the way you look, if you’re not as “pretty”. Fad diets and plastic surgeons with their liposuction, boob jobs, and butt implants take advantage of this. In Robots, these upgrades were just that; unnecessary cosmetic tinkering that prey upon the insecurities of people exposed to millions of dollars of advertising, for the purpose of bankrupting one out of their money. Ratchet was the pretty poster boy incarnation of this. The Rusties were the opposite extreme. Ratchet’s mom shows what happens when you let the idea of outward beauty consume you. You become a hideous, ugly looking monster. Pappy, who sits on the board of Bigweld industries, sheds her upgrades when she is converted the Rodney’s cause, yet loses none of her beauty, which is instead heightened by her acts.
A rejection of Materialism is also a strongly prominent theme. Rodney grows up with his cousins used hand-me-downs. The rusties live off of used parts they find in the dumpsters. Rodney’s father relates the story that he wishes he could have lived his dream, (which has astonishingly nothing to do with money considering the state of poverty they live in) but is to have continued to play his instrument and become a musician. When Rodney’s father apologizes for not being able to have provided better for his son, Rodney replies that he gave him the best thing in the world, which was believing in him.
The most obvious parallel in the film is Ratchets plan to eliminate the large numbers of undesirables by ending the production of parts with Hitlers’ plan to exterminate non Aryans by sending them to death camps. The huge trash collection machines patrolled the streets looking for outmodes to send to the ovens, much like the Gestapo patrolled Europe searching for jews, gypsies, gays, and sympathizers of these groups to send to the camps.
Robots is a kids movie that dealt with a lot of adult themes. It is important to teach kids good moral values with films like these.
Cute movie! by Bubbles
My 3 year old niece loves this movie and whenever she comes over, which is often, we have to watch it. The animation is great and I love the voice over character of Robin Williams. This part really suited him. If you have young children, they will really like this movie. I’d recommend it to anyone.
Great effects but a little light on plot… by B. Jones
This cute little movie (a smidge under 90 minutes) is an eye-popping visual feast, with roller-coaster vehicle chases; characters being swung, flipped, rolled and flattened; and lots of clever ‘physical’ humor and movement. However, I found myself wanting more of the plot and character development. There just isn’t enough time devoted to introducing a character before the next action sequence begins. I’d have added another 15-20 minutes of showing the different robots interacting with each other and deepening our understanding of their motives, likes/dislikes and desires. Having said that, it stands up well to repeat viewings (my two toddler girls absolutely love it and would rate it 5 stars) because there is so much going on in each scene that you find yourself noticing things missed the first (or second, or third) time around. The core morals taught are sound “you can shine, no matter what you’re made of” and the visual effects are top-notch. All in all, watching it leaves a person feeling like you just stepped off the Tilt-a-Whirl at the fair after eating cotton candy and funnel cakes all evening–giddy, exhilarated, lightheaded but in need of something a bit more substantial.
No Original Case by MovieMom
Movie was in great shape for a used product, but I expected the original case to be included in the purchase. I received the movie in an alternative case with none of the original artwork or advertising. I was a little dissapointed as I had ordered this as a replacement for a scratched disk that we owned and would have kept the original case if I had known it wasn’t coming. All in all the experience was ok, but I’ve learned to keep that in mind when ordering used movies (and keep the original case until the replacement movie is received).
A fusion of Jazz and Punk : Junk by R. Bagula
They are selling ‘junk’ to your kids on the street?
The Robin Williams dialog doesn’t redeem this heart
chilling comedy.
People as robots that you can throw away when their parts fail:
what message does this send to the children?
A movie for children that says they will be “recycled”
when they get old as spare parts:
all this bundled as cutsie animation.
Yes, they are making war robots for the future,
but a world of robot people is probably fantasy.
No one in Hollywood seems to have heard of Asimov
when they make this kind of trash movie?
I don’t like it even with a happy ending.

Titan A.E. (Special Edition)A visual knockout, Titan A.E. is an ambitious animated feature that combines traditional animations, computer-generated imagery, and special effects in the service of a science fiction adventure plotted with narrative conventions familiar from Star Wars and Star Trek. Credit directors Don Bluth (An American Tail, The Secret of NIMH, Anastasia) and Gary Goldman with crafting a vivid, convincing look to this deep space saga, which conjures some stunning images. A tense opening sequence climaxing in the destruction of Earth, a watery planet where delicate but deadly hydrogen trees float, joyriding in a starship while pursued by playful “space angels,” and a nerve-wracking journey through a lethal maze of massive ice crystals each qualify as mesmerizing sequences in any film context.
What’s visually stunning proves intermittently stunted on the narrative front, however. Orphaned when the evil Drej atomize Earth, protagonist Cale (voiced by Matt Damon) must journey across space to unlock the mystery of his late father’s final project, the Titan spacecraft, in a test of faith and filial identity that echoes Star Wars. The Titan itself ultimately poses a cosmic potential familiar to admirers of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Comical sidekicks (Nathan Lane, Janeane Garofalo, John Leguizamo), a sultry love interest (Drew Barrymore), and a roguish mentor (Bill Pullman) all verge on the generic, narrowly redeemed by dialogue from a writing team including Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon.
It’s likely that Titan’s target audience of young males prompted the filmmakers to walk a tightrope between softer family features and more violent, hard-edged anime. Titan’s brief bloodshed and coy nudity stop short of PG-13 terrain, though younger viewers might be unsettled by the violence. Young teens will find the proceedings tamer than the video games and anime fantasies that have influenced it. –Sam Sutherland

Good kids movie. by Shayna Grove
Titan A.E. has an interesting premise of a post-apocalyptic scenario for humankind in space. With a grunge/punk soundtrack, this appeals to a more modern generation than some other animated space films. I would say this fits in the same genre as Disney’s animated Treasure Island (the one set in space). It’s clean enough for small kids, and still entertaining for teens or adults, if predictable. I was really impressed by the seamless integration of both 3d generated graphics and traditional 2d animation. The plot is easy to follow, the characters realistic and engaging. I also liked that the aliens are more interesting than humans with extra features. I didn’t like the hive mind villain idea, but that doesn’t make the villain any less scary for younger viewers. All in all, it’s a good find for light sci-fi that everyone in the family can enjoy.
Embarassment to humankind by Zachary
If Titan AE is our last hope then the human race is better off dying. This insipid story follows an unlikable brat and a crew of incompetents in their attempt to save humanity. The story is ham-fisted the characters unlikable. Children might like this movie but adults will need Novocaine to make it through the operation.
Finally saw this movie 8 years later and… by G. SORRELL
Coulda waited another 8. No wonder this movie sank Fox Animation studios.
This movie was so predictable. No matter how much special f/x you throw at a movie, if the story isn’t there people over 11 y.o will not pay attention to the screen for very long. The character development was non-existent, you just KNEW someone was tipping the Drej; and since the movie cam never leaves the main characters, you knew it was one of the crew. This is ironic since all the time spent listening to the ham-flled script could have provided an opportunity for the audience to connect to the characters.
Biggest example of predictable: bad guy man (redeems himself at the end to work the Titan, THERE’S a surprise) remarks how the Drej are unstoppable because they are pure energy, just 2 minutes after the hologram message left for Cale states the Titan’s energy cells are depleted. Well guess what the Titan uses to power the Genesis project (er, I mean the Titan)? The traitor/protagonist at the end redeeming himself is SO Joss Whedon, as this is how Spike dies at the end of Buffy and Angelis at the end of Angel.
Plot holes? If the human race is so dangerous, why didn’t the Drej pick them off after blowing up the planet? Where did the rest of humanity wind up? Humanity was smart enough to create a Genesis project, but all that tech blows up with the creation of a new planet. How hard could it have been to create a separate piece of storage media to hold humanity’s science, art, literature, et al? Couldn’t be on the Titan, it blew up.
Then there’s the rock soundtrack that is put in place of a typical orchestra to build suspense and carry the emotion of the movie. Sorry, but there is only one HEAVY METAL movie, and this is a sorry attempt at recreating that cult-ish movie follwing that still gets the it watched nearly 30 years later.
Movies like Pulp Fiction, Blair Witch project, and Swingers all prove you don’t need A list celebs, big budgets, and hammy, WAY over the top scriptwriting to sell a movie. You just need to hire decent screenwriters and directors who aren’t former Disney B-material.
Titan A.E. by Robert S. Rubin
The graphics were excellent, the storyline was very good and overall the dvd was very interesting to watch.
Not perfect but still a most enjoyable ride by Irikefe Okonedo
Animated sci-fi adventure set in the 31st century in which evil alien forces known as the Drej destroy the earth, wiping out most of mankind (hence the ‘A.E.’ in the film’s title, which stands for ‘After Earth’). Fifteen years after the earth’s destruction a handful of the dwindling human survivors from that awful day seek out the fabled Titan, a spaceship that represents mankind’s last hope. But they must find the ship before the Drej do. This was a very enjoyable animated adventure, with Matt Damon providing the voice of the hero of the film Cale who leads the search for the spaceship Titan and Drew Barrymore the voice of his main female companion Akima. The beginning and end of the film are magnificent, both in terms of storytelling and animation. In this film we get to go on a journey of personal growth with the main character Cale, who starts off as a selfish and quite frankly not very pleasant person but matures as the film goes on as the quest to find the Titan becomes the making of him as a hero. The Drej are indeed frightening villains who destroy the earth near the beginning of the film but I felt that these characters were not fully fleshed out during the course of the film as their reasons for trying to wipe out the human race are never explained by them but merely speculated on by the film’s human characters. Because of this the film is not perfect but it is still a most enjoyable ride which is even more impressive considering that most of the film’s characters are rendered in traditional 2-D animation, as opposed to the computer generated animation which has taken over from 2-D animation in recent years. A good effort.

Fans of the now-defunct TV show will obviously enjoy this film the most, though almost anyone with a passing awareness of the characters will find something to chuckle about. (The funniest recurring gag finds beleaguered B&B neighbor Tom Anderson constantly sabotaged by the guys while on vacation.) Celebrity voices are fun to pick out, particularly that of David Letterman, who rather appropriately plays Butt-head’s long-lost father. –Tom Keogh

Puts South Park to shame. by B. Nallick
South Park is nothing compared to B & B.
Yes, SP is great but BB is better hands down.
The movie? Genius.
I’d give anything if Mike Judge would go back and do more of these.
A brilliant and offensive cartoon movie.
A must see!!!
Your pretty smart sometimes Beavis by Bob
MTV scored big with Mike Judge’s tale of two morons. Originally aired as a short on the animation showcase “Liquid Television”, the TV series is best summed up as a show about two idiots that watch MTV made for, and popular among, idiots that watch MTV. So it was, and I was among them. Same with the feature length in which the dumb duo did America.
“Frog Baseball” was the first Beavis and Butthead piece. You got to realize that we had never seen a cartoon like that before. Real cutting edge stuff. Two juvenile delinquents hang out, laugh at each other’s b.s., and smash a frog with a baseball bat. Almost shocking and revolutinary. The animation itself seemed decadent. When you first saw it you had to wonder about who made this show. Turns out of coarse Mike Judge is not at all a sick weirdo (as far as I know) and is a talented comedy writter. After Beavis, Judge went on to create another great animated show called “King of the Hill” ya may have heard of which features the same style of animation, but not so much scatological humor. It’s considered one of TV’s greatest cartoon series ever. And Judge did “Office Space” which is now a bonified contemporary cult classic. And since I’m giving tribute to Mike Judge’s career, if you’ve not seen “Idiocracy” you really should.
What I want to say here is that the show was actually not quite as dumb as most normal, intelligent people naturally thought it to be. I mean the show was dumb, but, well, people focus like most unhip people always do on *what* the show is about, but not *how* it is about what it is about. I’m not saying the Beavis and Butthead series is brilliant, just that it isn’t as retarded as it’s subject matter and title characters strongly suggest. Plus there is an extremely annoying American bias against animation. Even in 2008 animation is widely considered just kid’s stuff. Unfortunately on the DVDs there are no music videos cause that is where some of the wit came into play. Beavis and Butthead watching terrible MTV videos contained some of the funniest and smartest comedy of the series. It is best understood by us poor souls that grew up with -and were warped enough by- the corporate garbage pop culture of MTV. It is easy now to forget how pompous MTV was back in the day. I haven’t really seen MTV in years except for a brief glance while channel surfing. As dumb and developmentally retarded as the duo obviously was, they had a fairly good grasp of what “sucks” and what is “cool” as well as a partial grasp of how mass media manipulates and tries to play them which was displayed by their steady stream of wisecracks and laughter. Baby bommers looking at Beavis and Butthead as part of the “dumbing down of America” had nothing on their video commentaries. Sitting on that disgusting nacho crumb and roach infested couch they gave insights into the horrible, idiotic, immoral culture ..wait, hold up a sec, got to do another line…….Okay, I’m back- that they themselves were born from. MTV gave birth to these two little mutants. MTV created the need for them after years of being taken too seriously and bringing youth culture mostly mediocre, uninteresting music and culture. Of coarse, a lot of what Beavis and Butthead said about music was wrong, but most viewers could tell when they were wrong and so the show *still* sort of managed to say something useful about how dumb MTV is. Adults didn’t get that. Beavis and Butthead were laughing at themselves.
Whatever. A funny comment came from the wonderful weirdo director Tim Burton that I recall when I think of B&B (which isn’t often). He was on one of those VH1 shows were they have a bunch of celebrities sitting there and show them individually commenting on other pop culture personalities, old TV series, media events, etc. On Beavis and Butthead he said there is like a part of each one of us that is like them. Or something like that. Like we all have an inner Beavis and Butthead. Maybe he means the Id. So there is a psychological explanation for the show’s mass appeal too. (I’m not high.)
Anyway, as for as the movie goes, it kind of sucked. It sucked because the show was extreme for TV at first and with a film Judge could have taken it to the next level, but instead played it safe. In my opinion “Beavis and Butthead Do America” should have been rated “R”, contained nudity, adult situations, lots of death and explosions, and an absurd amount of profanity. Then they should have released the “UNrated” version on DVD which is so hardcore it is banned in some communities because little redneck kids are setting their trailer parks on fire and offering animal sacrifices to Sterculius.

The Beavis and Butt-head movies provides far better animation and a great hard hitting soundtrack you wont find in the MTV series. Its a movie I saw years ago and forgot about. The 2nd viewing years later was just as enjoyable. A must see for fans
Possibly the best movie ever. by Mustonen Maarit
I’ve lost count of the times I’ve seen this movie. It’s possibly my favorite cartoon movie ever. Heck, one of the best MOVIES ever.
A Pretty Good Synapsis Of 1990’s Americana by A Hermit
“Beavis And Butt-Head Do America” came out to a lot of fanfare in the mid-1990’s, and I was one of many who went to the theater to see it, and someone in the row behind me summed it up pretty good: “…I can’t stand it, I’m laughing too hard!…”
There is a lot of extremely low-brow humor in this film, but it is actually a sophisticated screenplay, with a lot of nuances to it; it isn’t just a bunch of sight-gags aimed at stupid people. The plot follows our heroes from their home in Highland, Texas to Washington, D.C. via many scenic and historic places, where they meet many eccentric characters and get into several scrapes, all the while remaining oblivious to how dire their situation really is. Their TV has been stolen, and they just want to get it back, or maybe get a new one. They unwittingly become pawns in a murder-for-hire plot, as well as an international bio-terrorism scheme. They unknowingly smuggle a device to the White House which, if detonated, or even damaged, will unleash a super-virus which will bring about a nightmarish outbreak of illness unlike anything many have ever seen. Their motivation? They believe they will “score” with an extremely sexy woman who will give them a lot of money, just to go to Washington. When she discovers what naieve kids they really are, she sews the doomsday device into Beavis’ pants (he took them off, thinking he was going to take her to bed), and tells them to take a tour bus to Washington. To them, it is a fun trip, despite some inconveniences, but they only see it as a road trip. They just want their TV, and they want to “score.”
This movie was my first taste of the work of Rob Zombie. I’m not really a fan of his music, I don’t hate it, but I don’t get into it either. While the story takes us to the desert, there is a peyote-induced hallucination sequence devised by Rob Zombie, accompanied with music from his band, White Zombie, with a selection called “Rat Finks, Suicide Tanks, And Cannibal Girls.” This is an outstanding piece of film. I have this movie on tape and on DVD, but seeing this sequence on a big screen in the movie theater, was very memorable. This bit wasn’t really part of the story, but worth the price of admission nonetheless.
Of course, as per the TV series, Beavis and Butt-Head cause bedlam everywhere they go. They don’t mean any harm, they just don’t have a clue. And coincidence keeps making them cross paths with poor old Tom Anderson, who just wanted to see the sights on his way to Washington, and visit the White House. On the surface, nobody deserves the hassle he goes through, poor guy, but he is SO clueless, he virtually asks for all his woes. So it’s no surprise when he goes down with the villians as a conspirator.
This review is based on the original VHS release and the first issue of the DVD. In this format, there are no extras, apart from two short movie trailers. The tenth anniversary release may have a lot of extras, I don’t know. But really, who actually NEEDS all that? Sure, it’s nice to have all that, but why do you buy a movie on tape or disc? To watch the movie, at your convenience.
As earlier stated, this is a very funny, very well-made movie, which always gets a laugh, from me, anyway.
Vampiros en La Habana(Vampires in Havana)3
by Mavelyn (Category: Film & Animation)

Disappointing by Matthew Ferro
The lure of new episodes was too great for me not to buy this and i’m disappointed that i did.
Not funny, stories that seemed like a monkey on crack wrote them and animation that pales in comparison to the original.
Ren sounds okay but the guy doing Stimpy just doesn’t have it.
If you do decide to get this, skip through the John K intros…they are WAY too long and WAY too boring!!
only for the hard core fans by C. Felder
I was hoping for a bit more of some lost episodes, and while I got the episodes, i wasnt impressed with the work. Not for children, as it says, but unless you are a die hard ren and stimpy fan, it may not be worth it. It was ok and funny in some parts, alot of dirty jokes to be dirty I feel.
Mediocre by H. Ruiz
If this wasn’t Ren & Stimpy, it would probably deserve 4/5 Stars. The thing is, that it IS Ren & Stimpy and by John K.
The beauty of the original John K’s Ren & Stimpy is the fact that they were able to tell sex and gross jokes, so subtile and get away with it having the audience wonder if Ren & Stimpy were really gay in fact, of course this “gay thing” being the least important on the list of strengths the cartoons had (the plot being the most).
Plots on Adult movie cartoon are poor and non-sense: Stimpy’s pregnant ? Who didn’t see that one coming? Humor is not smart and if you’re looking for any of the classic lines and scenes such as immortal “CALL THE POLICE!” on Rubber Nipples Salesmen, the Dog’s speech at the beginning of Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen or Ren’s speech on Space Madness, forget it because you won’t get them here. Ren seeks help and Fire Dogs part 2 may be the best episodes; quite good in fact but still not up there with the Spunco originals. Apart from them you feel like you’re watching a very good English speaking Hentai cartoon with some really gross, pointless and disgusting jokes. The real original inventive and smart humour is simply gone forever.
I expected more from John K’s commentary, however it’s really boring and he doesn’t really say anything interesting or worth the watch. You just want to tell him to shut up.
I own Seasons 1 and 2 and I tell you I never get tired of watching them because they’re so brilliant, however this DVD is worth only a few views only before it starts getting real old. It really makes me wonder on how John K. needed Bob Camp’s and Chris Reccardi’s more than Camp and Reccardi needed John K.
No Charm - No Humor - Weak Animation by DirtyHarry214
These lost episodes were unwatchable. It was really like watching a different cartoon. No aspect of this resembled the original ren & stimpy show. All of the charm and humor from the original cartoons is gone.
THE LOOK:
The background paintings are high quality, but the animation of the characters is terrible. Ren & Stimpy don’t look like they did in the original show, they look like different cartoon characters. One of the best things about the original show was the endless amount of funny facial expressions. But the facial expressions and movements in these new ones are bland, lifeless and unfunny. I didn’t laugh at one facial expression throughout the DVD. There also are none of the signature “high detail painting stills” from Scott Wills. The animation resembled the animation from the cartoon “Cow and Chicken”, not the original Ren & Stimpy.
THE SOUND:
Billy West does not do any voices in these cartoons, which is a big minus. John K. does the voice of Ren, but strangely, it doesn’t sound anything like Ren from the originals. The guy who does Stimpy isn’t even close, and it isn’t funny either. The same production music is used, but it is used poorly. The music doesn’t sync with what’s going on, and doesn’t add to the drama or humor of the episode.
THE WRITING & HUMOR:
The only joke in these episodes is to hear Ren & Stimpy swear, smoke and show their private parts. It makes you chuckle the first time you hear it, but gets old very quickly. Its just obscene for the sake of being obscene. There’s no creativity involved in the writing or gags.
CONCLUSION:
I am a huge fan of Ren & Stimpy. I even liked the later episodes from Games Animation. But these lost episodes were unwatchable. Ren & Stimpy fans will probably buy this out of curiosity, but I strongly suggest not wasting your money on this set. I suggest buying “Seasons 1 &2″ and “Seasons 3 and a half”. The “Lost episodes” and “Season 4/5″ are not worth buying.
Trash…this ruined Ren and Stimpy for me. by N. L. Phillips
I am horrified by this video and I am shocked that people would waste time making or watching this.
It’s the most crude and unfunny movie…there is NO plot besides them drooling over naked women and saying “pussy”.
I used to love Ren and Stimpy…now I refuse to watch any of them again.
Thanks for ruining this show for me.
